The continuation of the implementation of the “grain deal” without the participation of Russia is fraught with risks due to the fact that the route for the export of Ukrainian grain passes near the combat area. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Kyiv’s proposal to Ankara to continue the “grain deal” without Russia’s participation, Interfax reports.
“We are talking about a zone that is directly close to the combat area, and without appropriate security guarantees, certain risks arise there,” Peskov said, adding that a comment on this from the military is needed.
According to Peskov, “if something is formalized without Russia, then these risks should be taken into account.” “Here we cannot say how much and which countries are ready to take on these risks,” the presidential spokesman said. He also called unscrupulous the position of European countries that did not fulfill the conditions of the “grain deal”.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken called Russia’s decision to withdraw from the “grain deal” unconscionable.
Recall, on July 17, Moscow sent Ankara, Kyiv and the UN its objections to the extension of the “grain deal”, specifying that the deal will cease to operate from July 18. At the same time, the Russian Federation stated that they were ready to resume it when the Russian part of the agreements was completed.
