The grain deal ends on Monday; as soon as its Russian part is completed, Russia will immediately return to its implementation, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

Thus, he answered the question of whether it is worth waiting for any statements on Monday on the grain deal, which expires on July 17th.

Answering a clarifying question whether this could be considered an official statement that the grain deal had ceased to exist, Peskov repeated: “It has stopped. The grain deal has stopped, as soon as the Russian part is completed, the Russian side will immediately return to the implementation of this deal.” At the same time, he answered negatively the question whether the attack on the Crimean bridge that took place on Monday could affect Russia’s position on the grain deal and become an argument in favor of refusing to extend it. “You know that even before this terrorist attack, in fact, the position was declared by President Putin,” Peskov said.

In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the Russian side on Monday sent Ankara, Kyiv and the UN its objections to the extension of the grain deal. According to her, “a statement by the Foreign Ministry with detailed explanations of the Russian position will be published in the near future.”
