The Basmanny Court of Moscow has arrested seven people suspected of preparing an assassination attempt on the editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT TV channel Margarita Simonyan, as well as on the journalist Ksenia Sobchak. It is reported by “RIA Novosti” with reference to the representative of the court.
They were sent under arrest on charges of hooliganism (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), among those arrested were four minors.
Earlier today, the FSB reported on the prevention of an assassination attempt on Margarita Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak. It is noted that the security service, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee, prevented the preparation of the murder of the mentioned persons, allegedly on the instructions of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The attackers reportedly seized a Kalashnikov assault rifle, 90 rounds of ammunition, knives, brass knuckles, rubber truncheons, and handcuffs.
Later, Ksenia Sobchak said that she was grateful to law enforcement agencies for their work to prevent the assassination attempt on her, “if all this is true.” She noted that in any case, “terror is an evil without any “buts”.
Margarita Simonyan, in turn, noted that she was sorry that the detained 18-year-old guy, suspected of preparing an assassination attempt, “decided that caring for his people is compatible with taking money from Ukraine, from Ukrainian intelligence to destroy representatives of the public opinions of one’s own country. According to her, the detainee, once in places of deprivation of liberty, may be sent from there to the front.
