Almost half of Americans are dissatisfied with the state of democracy in the country

Almost half of Americans surveyed believe that US government agencies are not working as they should, showed a poll conducted by the Associated Press in conjunction with NORC. 49% of respondents are of the opinion that democracy in the country does not work well.

Another 10% of those surveyed believe that democracy works quite or very well, 40% – that it works only partly well.

53% of respondents believe that the Congress is not coping with the task of preserving democratic values, 16% hold the opposite point of view.

Approximately half of the respondents believe that both the Republican and Democratic parties fail to maintain a democratic system in the United States: in particular, 47% of respondents have such an opinion about the Democratic, and 56% about the Republican Party.

53% of respondents believe that “the same as them” Americans are not represented in the US government, 12% are satisfied with popular representation in American political institutions, and 35% think that the level of representation is mediocre.

Two-thirds of the respondents were dissatisfied with the authorities’ policies on immigration, budget spending, gun ownership, abortion, more than half on health and environmental issues, about half on economic issues.
