Abnormally hot weather has set in the countries of southern Europe due to the Cerberus heat wave, Interfax reports citing Western media.

So, in Spain, the southeastern regions of the Iberian Peninsula, the temperature in the coming days may rise to 45 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the air there is warming up to 35 degrees.

Also, the temperature has already exceeded or will exceed in the coming days the mark of 40 degrees Celsius in France, Greece, Croatia and Turkey. In Italy, the heat could reach 48.8 degrees – the weather record for Europe, recorded in the country in 2021. At the moment, the highest level of meteorological danger has been introduced in 10 Italian cities, including Florence and Rome. On Tuesday, a 44-year-old man died due to high temperatures in the north of the country. Several tourists received heatstroke.

In some parts of Greece, the temperature can rise to 40-45 degrees, while on average this time of year it usually stays at around 32. In Czech Prague, 34 degrees are expected on Saturday – 10 above the average for July 24. In northern Africa, the heat can reach 50 degrees: Tunisia has already recorded 49 degrees of heat.

The reason for the high temperatures is the Cerberus heat wave, which was given this name by the Italian Meteorological Society. CNN notes that on Friday, Cerberus could replace the new Charon atmospheric front, which could cause temperatures in Italy to rise even higher next week.

In many countries, authorities are urging citizens to take precautions while outdoors and not to travel unnecessarily.
