Heavy rain, which hit Rostov-on-Don several times on Wednesday, led to the flooding of a number of streets and traffic restrictions on a section of one of the city’s largest thoroughfares, Malinovsky Street. According to TASS, Malyugina Street, Tekucheva Street, Pushkinskaya Street, 19th Line and others were also flooded.
The city authorities twice reported traffic restrictions on Malinovsky Street, as well as the closure of the entrance to the main railway station. The rains also flooded pedestrian crossings, forcing residents to cross roads over water streams.
As stated in the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations, the situation on this street is due to the fact that “in conditions of a volley downpour, it is impossible to carry out transportation through a storm collector in a short period of time.” The department added that for the forces of the urban level of the RSChS, a high-alert mode was introduced due to the threat of an emergency.
Earlier, citizens were informed of a storm warning in the region. Rescuers informed about heavy rains, downpours combined with thunderstorms, hail and strong winds.
