UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the extension of the “grain deal”. This, according to the press service of the UN, was stated at a briefing by the press secretary of the secretary general of the organization Stéphane Dujarric.
According to him, the letter was sent the day before. In the message, Guterres outlined a proposal aimed at harmonizing the further implementation of the grain agreement.
The UN Secretary General, in particular, proposed in the letter to “remove the obstacles affecting financial transactions through the Russian Agricultural Bank”, which causes serious concern on the part of Moscow, and “simultaneously ensure the continuation of the flow of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.”
Recall that the current term of the grain deal expires on July 17. Earlier, Russia admitted the possibility of the country’s withdrawal from the agreement. Moscow has repeatedly pointed out the failure to comply with its conditions, which are grounds for extending the initiative. Thus, one of the conditions for the extension of the deal by the Russian Federation is the connection of Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT.
