Western countries are preparing a new aid package for Ukraine. Details are still being discussed during the NATO summit that started in Vilnius, but a number of countries have already announced that they plan to transfer new batches of weapons to Kyiv.

For example, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would transfer long-range SCALP missiles to Ukraine, he was quoted by Tf1Info. The French leader noted that he decided to increase the supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine, taking into account the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the situation on the battlefield.

At the same time, Germany promised to supply Kyiv with 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles and 25 Leopard 1 A5 tanks, two Patriot air defense systems as part of a new aid package.

The Kremlin reacted to the decision of France to transfer long-range missiles to Ukraine. “It remains to be clarified and figured out exactly what radius we are talking about. This, from our point of view, is an erroneous decision, fraught with consequences for the Ukrainian side, because, of course, this will force us to take countermeasures, ”said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, RIA Novosti reports. He stressed that the transfer of new weapons cannot affect the course of events within the framework of the NMD, these decisions can only “aggravate the fate of the Kyiv regime.”

Recall that on July 11, the NATO summit started in Vilnius. The program of events was previously presented by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. It was noted that NATO member countries are working on a common communiqué on Ukraine.
