Russian and Belarusian slalomists were not allowed to participate in international competitions. This decision was made by the International Canoe Federation (ICF), the press service of the Russian Canoe Slalom Federation reported.
It is clarified that after consultations with the national federations of those countries that host the main starts of the season in rowing slalom this year, the organization came to the conclusion that it could not guarantee the safety of the participants, so the Russians and Belarusians were denied admission to the competition.
“An important argument in making a decision is to ensure the safety of the participants, which the UK, Poland and France cannot yet guarantee,” the message says.
Recall that London will host the World Cup, where the main selection for the 2024 Olympic Games will take place. The final stage of the World Cup will take place in Paris, and the World Championship under 23 will be held in Krakow.
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions only as neutral athletes.
