On June 29, the Kremlin hosted a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the commanders and management of Wagner PMC, including Yevgeny Prigozhin. This was announced by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, RBC reports.
According to him, the meeting was attended by 35 people – “all the commanders and management of the company, including Prigozhin.” “This meeting took place in the Kremlin. It lasted almost three hours. Its details are unknown,” Peskov said. He added that “the president gave an assessment of the company’s actions at the front during the NWO, and also gave his assessment of the events of June 24.”
According to Peskov, Putin listened to the explanations of the commanders and offered them further employment options. At the same time, PMC commanders “set out their version of what happened and expressed their readiness to continue fighting for their homeland,” the presidential press secretary added.
The media also notes that the French newspaper Liberation previously wrote about the meeting between Putin and Prigozhin, citing sources in Western intelligence.
Recall that on June 23, the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced a “march of justice” against Moscow. PMC fighters crossed the border, established control over military facilities in Rostov-on-Don and entered several Russian regions with military equipment and weapons. The authorities of the Russian Federation called Prigozhin’s actions an armed rebellion.
The situation was resolved on June 24 through the mediation of Alexander Lukashenko. Under the terms of the agreement, Yevgeny Prigozhin must leave for Belarus. After that, the Russian authorities dropped the criminal case on the rebellion and promised not to prosecute the PMC fighters.
