A patient who was hospitalized on the fourth floor of the Guasmo Sur hospital tried to escape on Tuesday morning.
It happened around 08:00 and several photos and videos revealed how the man broke a window in his room and went out onto a narrow balcony. The patient walked a few meters holding onto the windows to a rest area.
A doctor called ECU911 and personnel from the Fire Department went to the medical home and with a ladder they reached the man who was returned to the medical home.
A source ruled out that it was a wounded inmate who was recovering in the hospital since the last massacre recorded in the Penitentiary, as indicated in various media. It was confirmed that it was a man with addiction problems who tried to leave the hospital to use again.
A week ago, in that health home, an inmate wounded in the recent massacre in the jail did try to escape.
In fact, the suspect managed to leave the hospital and was detected by a policeman guarding the outside of the medical home. It happened last Tuesday, at 8:30 p.m., minutes after a doctor alerted that the patient was not in his bed.
The inmate was dressed in an apron and limped because his leg was in a cast. (I)
