Russia has approved the procedure for the interaction of state bodies with Russian citizens who have a passport of Ukraine. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the document is published on the official portal of legal information.
The text notes that special attention will be paid to people who, even after renouncing Ukrainian citizenship, continue to exercise the rights and fulfill the duties provided for residents of Ukraine. If law enforcement officers identify such violations, data on this will be sent to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Then the verification will be carried out by the body that accepted the statement of unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine.
The conclusion will be sent personally to the citizen or his legal representative. The documents will also be delivered to the FSB.
Earlier, the State Duma adopted a bill according to which the citizenship of Ukraine will be considered terminated from the date of filing an application for withdrawal from it to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At the same time, Russian citizens who have submitted a corresponding application should not receive or use a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, except in cases where these actions are performed in order to terminate citizenship. If this requirement is violated, a statement of unwillingness to be a citizen of Ukraine will be considered invalid, and a Russian citizen – having citizenship of Ukraine, noted in the text of the law.
