In Chechnya, unidentified persons attacked journalist Yelena Milashina, who flew to Grozny to announce the verdict to Zarema Musayeva, the wife of Saydi Yangulbaev, ex-judge of the Supreme Court of the republic. According to RBC, this was reported by journalist Ksenia Sobchak. In addition, lawyer Alexander Nemov suffered.
Nemov told the human rights organization “Team Against Torture” (the former “Committee Against Torture”, recognized as a foreign agent and self-liquidated) that on the way from the airport, the car in which he and Milashina were traveling was blocked by three cars with armed people. Both were severely beaten and threatened with weapons. In addition, the attackers took away and destroyed all the equipment that Nemov and Milashina had with them.
According to the lawyer, the attackers demanded that they leave with Milashina.
The journalist and the lawyer were hospitalized, Sobchak writes that both are in wheelchairs. Milashina has broken fingers and multiple bruises, she is constantly losing consciousness, her head is doused with brilliant green. Nemov “moves badly,” wrote Sobchak.
In February last year, Milashina reported that she had received threats from the Chechen authorities, which caused her to temporarily leave Russia.
