The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against a resident of Berdyansk, who was suspected of recruiting his acquaintances and inciting them to commit a terrorist attack in the Zaporozhye region, the press service of the regional Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee reports.
The case was initiated under the article on inducement, recruitment or other involvement of persons in the commission of a terrorist act. Those found guilty face life imprisonment.
The investigation claims that the 30-year-old man served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) as a senior soldier of the shooting range of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade. Subsequently, he decided to commit a terrorist attack on the territory of the Zaporozhye region in order to “destabilize” the work of the authorities, as well as the activities of the Russian military, according to the department’s materials.
Investigators believe that the man made a hiding place where he kept an improvised explosive device, and since April 2022, for a monetary reward, he tried to convince two of his acquaintances to commit a terrorist attack, but both acquaintances refused the offer.
The suspect was taken into custody. He should be charged soon.
