Turkey has lost 35-40% of Russian tourists this summer season compared to the pre-Covid 2019. This was reported in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.
According to ATOR, the main reason is the departure from the direction of “budget” tourists due to rising prices.
It is noted that the average check for a trip to this country for 10 nights in the summer months of pre-Covid 2019 for tour operators fluctuated around 50-60 thousand rubles per person on the tour. In the summer of 2023, the average check for Turkey almost doubled and now stands at about 100-115 thousand rubles per person.
At the same time, tour operators drew attention to the change in consumer preferences of those who still have access to Turkey. In particular, the demand for expensive hotels, individual transfers and Fast Track services at the airport has grown, tourists are more likely to buy extended insurance policies and meals on board.
According to experts, 2019 was the best year for Russian tourism to Turkey. Then the flow of tourists from Russia amounted to 7 million people. Last year it decreased to 5.2 million.
