The authorities of ten communes in northern France have imposed a curfew to combat the riots. As the local TV channel BFMTV clarifies, the curfew began to operate in Lille, Dinant, Croix, Roubaix and other cities.
According to the channel, it will operate for two hours from 20:00 local time to 22:00. In some cases, it can apply to all residents, and only to minors.
The restriction is also being introduced in a number of suburbs of Paris and other regions, in particular in the commune of Darnetal (Normadie).
Recall that the protests in France began on the evening of June 27 after the death of a 17-year-old teenager at the hands of police officers in the suburbs of Paris. The actions started in Nantre, a day later the residents of Lille and Toulouse joined them. As a result, the protests turned into riots and clashes with the police. On the night of June 29, demonstrators set fire to cars, smashed shop windows, and attacked policemen.
Earlier today, the head of the Association of Mayors of France, David Lisnar, said that on Monday, July 3, rallies will be held in front of city halls across the country, at which citizens will oppose the riots.
