The mArs art space (3, Marsovo Pole) presented 16 graphic works by Irina Pecherskikh, an artist from Moscow, to the judgment of Petersburgers. “Singularity” was the author’s first solo exhibition in the Northern capital.

“We are all looking for how to express space, how to give it a shape, and the singularity, the uniqueness of the phenomenon is what most attracts my attention as an artist,” Pecherskikh herself explained the choice of the name for her exhibition.

The artist has numerous paintings on her account, but in recent years the author prefers paper to canvas, and graphics to painting.

“With a very simple set of expressive means – acrylic, colored ink and gouache – the Pecherskys manage to achieve a convincing expressive capacity of images,” said the project curator, art historian Alexei Porygin. “The artist has changed her creative language, experimenting with line and color, looking for expression on the plane.”

According to Irina Pecherskikh, St. Petersburg and its artistic traditions (including the Leningrad art school) have a serious influence on her work.

“Perhaps this is the only city where everything, literally everything, breathes freedom, and where there is freedom, there is a desire to create!” she said.

The works of Irina Pecherskikh are exhibited in the art space mArs until October 9th.

Entrance to the exhibition is free.
