Kyiv would like to “show results on the battlefield” for the NATO summit, which will be held in Vilnius on July 11-12. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Spanish media in Kyiv, excerpts from statements are given by RBC.
“Before the summit, we must show results, but every kilometer is worth a life,” Zelensky said, quoted by RTVE.
The leader of Ukraine acknowledged that the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the counteroffensive had slowed down in recent months, explaining that the rains were interfering. “Torrential rains last for a long time, and this has greatly slowed down some processes,” Zelensky said.
He also asked the West to continue to support Ukraine with weapons, stressing that “without Ukraine, NATO will not be complete.” According to him, the alliance now cannot do without Ukraine, because the Ukrainian army can do a lot: NATO models and strategies have already been tested and evaluated by the military in a real military situation, El Mundo quotes Zelensky.
Earlier, the head of the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, Mark Milley, admitted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is “slower than expected”, and it will be “very bloody” and will last up to 10 weeks.
