The Chkalovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg placed under arrest Veronika Naumova, the guardian of a six-year-old boy who was found dead the day before, the press service of the court reports.
The woman was taken into custody until August 26, 2023. She was charged under three articles: on the murder of a minor, on the torture of a minor and on fraud in receiving social benefits.
The defendant pleaded not guilty and stated that the death of the child occurred as a result of an accident, TASS reports citing investigator Yevgenia Didyk.
Recall that the body of a six-year-old boy was found on the territory of a garage complex in the Chkalovsky district of Yekaterinburg. Initially, the missing child was reported by his guardian Naumova, who said that he left home and did not return. After her statement, they began to search for the child, and when they found it, it turned out that the boy’s death had occurred several months ago.
Investigators found that in 2022 the accused received monthly payments for needs, maintenance and guardianship, while systematically beating the child. When the boy died, the woman “for several months, without reporting the death of the child to law enforcement and guardianship authorities, deliberately received these payments out of self-interest,” the UK said.
