A new case of human infection with anthrax has been registered in the Barun-Khemchik district of Tuva. This was reported in Rospotrebnadzor.

According to the service, a resident of the city of Ak-Dovurak became infected with the infection. Persons who have been in contact with the sick person have been identified, disinfection has already been carried out at the place of residence of the infected person. Nine more people are being tested for infection, and the entrance to the village where the ulcer was detected has been blocked. The infected person was hospitalized in the Kyzyl Infectious Diseases Hospital. A state of emergency has been introduced in the region.

According to the Telegram channel Mash, a resident of Tuva who contracted anthrax cooked and ate the insides of a horse after slaughter. It is noted that the horse was killed, as she began to have convulsions. The Russian decided to eat the insides of the animal according to local tradition. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the fact of purchasing horsemeat without a certificate was established.

Earlier, in Ush-Khady-Emektig near the village of Tselinnoye, Kyzyl region of Tuva, quarantine was introduced due to the detection of anthrax in cattle.
