President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will not go to the upcoming NATO summit if the leaders of the alliance countries do not resolve the issue of Ukraine’s membership. This requirement of the Ukrainian authorities was voiced by the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva, writes Reuters.

According to him, Zelensky will not be at the summit if “NATO leaders tend to show or show a lack of courage.” The President of Ukraine “has no reason and time to go if there is no result at the summit in Vilnius,” Zhovka added, quoted by the media.

He added that Finland and Sweden applied for membership in 2022, and received a response as early as June of that year. Zhovka noted that Kyiv is asking to begin the procedure for Ukraine’s accession to NATO and “at some point banged on the table to emphasize his point of view,” the newspaper writes.

The NATO summit will take place on July 11-12 in Vilnius.

Recall that on September 30, 2022, Zelensky applied for the country’s accession to NATO in an expedited manner. In June, it was said in Kyiv that 20 NATO countries had already formalized support for the country’s entry into the alliance.
