Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, with the participation of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, discussed the development of a peace treaty. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
“During a telephone conversation, the interlocutors exchanged views on the development of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the creation of a mechanism for discussions between Stepanakert and Baku. An agreement was reached to continue discussions aimed at establishing stability and security in the South Caucasus.
The ministry said that “Mirzoyan confirmed the need for the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia, the speedy return of the Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan and the unconditional preservation of the ceasefire.”
“In the context of preventing new aggressions, the importance of introducing international mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the situation” at the border was emphasized, the Armenian ministry added.
