The deployment of Wagner PMC in Belarus does not pose a direct military threat to Europe, however, this creates the risk of an attempt by fighters to penetrate European countries with unknown goals. Such a statement, according to RBC, was made by the Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjanis Karins.
According to him, Latvia is closely following what is happening in Belarus with Yevgeny Prigozhin and “unknown very trained” fighters who may join him. Karins added that this “potential threat” may not be direct and military, but will be the threat of an attempt to penetrate Europe with unknown goals.
The Prime Minister believes that Latvia needs to strengthen border protection and control the situation.
Recall that on June 27, Prigozhin arrived in Belarus after the campaign of PMC fighters against Moscow, which, following negotiations with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, ended with the return of units to rear camps.
Earlier, the Polish authorities announced plans to strengthen the border with Belarus.
