In Zaporozhye, trying to break through the minefields near Malaya Tokmachka, the strike group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost at least 25 units of Western armored vehicles. Forbes writes about it.

The media calls the losses “catastrophic”.

According to the publication, the conclusions of analysts, based on images of damaged vehicles on the battlefield, indicate that the Ukrainian army suffered heavy losses in the Zaporozhye region during the June 8 offensive. On that day, the 47th Air Assault Brigade and the 33rd Mechanized Brigade unsuccessfully tried to break through Russian minefields to reach the village of Rabotino. As a result, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost at least 25 armored vehicles: 17 M-2 Bradleys, four Leopard 2A6 tanks, three Leopard 2Rs and one Wisent. In general, in a couple of hours, the APU combat group lost almost a fifth of the Bradley and Leopard 2A6 supplied by the West, as well as half of the Leopard 2R tanks, media reports.

It is noted that despite the loss of almost an entire battalion in an unsuccessful attack, the losses amounted to only about 15% of the strike group of two brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, some wrecked armored vehicles were considered fit for repair. The United States also promised additional supplies of M-2, the media points out.

Recall that Kyiv launched a counteroffensive in early June. In Moscow, a little later, they noted that no success was achieved in any direction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials also acknowledged that the advance was “slower than we would like.”
