In Karachay-Cherkessia, a criminal case has been initiated on the organization of a criminal community in a republican clinical hospital. According to Kommersant, Deputy Prime Minister of the KChR government Irina Gerbekova is suspected of organizing the community. As specified, she led this medical institution as head physician in 2010-2011, as well as from 2015 to 2020.
According to the investigation, members of the community, which included, according to preliminary information, the deputy head physician and the chief accountant, stole funds allocated to the medical institution, including for the purchase of medicines.
Sources of the newspaper claim that the main case of embezzlement in the republican hospital was initiated three months ago. At that time Vasily Babichev, deputy chief physician, was detained. In addition, his wife, an individual entrepreneur with whom the hospital entered into contracts for works and services, and the chief accountant of the hospital, are also involved in the case.
The investigation believes that over several years, several million rubles were stolen from the budget of the state institution through imaginary transactions and fictitious contracts.
