President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko confirmed the presence of the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin in the country. It is reported by “BELTA”.
According to him, the security guarantees promised by Russian President Vladimir Putin have been provided. Today, June 27, Prigozhin is in Belarus, Lukashenka specified.
“As I promised, if you want to change corners with us for a while and so on, we will help you. Naturally, for them (the Wagnerites – ed.) account, ”the president explained.
Lukashenka added that his country’s Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that he could use such a unit as Wagner in the army.
According to Lukashenka, the combat experience of the PMC fighters will be useful to his military.
He added that there would be no camps for Wagner PMCs in Belarus, but they would help with accommodation if necessary. Also in the country there will be no recruitment points for PMCs.
On the evening of June 24, when Yevgeny Prigozhin, after negotiations with Alexander Lukashenko, announced the withdrawal of his mercenaries to “field camps”, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov announced that the criminal case against Prigozhin would be dropped, and he himself would leave for Belarus.
