President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus, if necessary, was ready to send a brigade of security forces to Russia to resolve the situation with an attempted armed rebellion. His words are quoted by the Telegram channel Pool of the First.

Lukashenka noted that not only the army, but also the police and special forces were put on full combat readiness.

The Belarusian president also gave details of a conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday morning amid the Wagner group’s actions. According to him, he suggested to his Russian colleague not to hurry with the implementation of the “cruel decision to kill” taken at that time.

“Come on, I say, let’s talk with Prigogine, with his commanders. To which he said to me: “Listen, Sasha, it’s useless. He doesn’t even pick up the phone, he doesn’t want to talk to anyone,” Lukashenka said.

Recall that on Saturday, June 24, the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don was captured by the Wagner PMC. This happened against the backdrop of statements by Yevgeny Prigozhin about alleged Russian military missile and bomb attacks on PMC camps – this, however, was denied by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion. Russian President Vladimir Putin himself called the actions of the “Wagnerites” a criminal adventure.

Later in Minsk they said that Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin and he accepted his proposal to stop the Wagner movement in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate.

After that, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov spoke, saying that Prigozhin would leave for Belarus, and the criminal case would be dropped.
