Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the servicemen who ensured order on June 23-24, said that the backbone of the leadership of the Russian armed forces should be formed from those who adequately prove themselves in combat work. As Kommersant writes, the president added that this also applies to the “aviation unit”.
According to the President of the Russian Federation, all the military who took part in suppressing the Wagner PMC rebellion will be presented with state awards.
Recall that on June 24, PMC Wagner captured the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Prior to this, Yevgeny Prigozhin announced that the Russian military had allegedly carried out missile and bomb attacks on PMC camps. The information was refuted by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. As a result, a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion. According to President Vladimir Putin, the actions of the “Wagnerites” are a criminal adventure.
Later in Minsk, they said that the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin and he accepted his proposal to stop the Wagner movement in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate.
The Kremlin noted that Prigozhin would leave for Belarus, and the criminal case would be dropped.
