Police arrested three subjects involved in the assault on a gas station and two others who tried to rob passersby in the south of Guayaquil

Events occurred between dawn and tomorrow on Monday 29.

Three subjects were arrested after robbing a gas station and another two for attempting to rob passersby. Both cases were reported between the early hours and the morning of this Monday, November 29, in two points in the south of Guayaquil.

The first incident occurred around 04:30 at a service station located on Argentina and 6 de Marzo streets, south of the city, said Major Christian Jácome, head of the Portete District. There, subjects took the money from the proceeds during the previous hours in the business and fled in a black Peugeot vehicle.

With the support of ECU-911, the Police learned information on the characteristics of the vehicle in which the antisocials were mobilized and located them at the intersection of Portete and Los Ríos streets. From that point, a persecution of around twenty minutes began until reaching the height of San Martín and Carchi streets, where the car was abandoned and three occupants tried to flee on foot, but meters later they were apprehended by police units .

The police detained the three individuals and also a Peugeot vehicle, cash, a weapon and clothing.

One of those implicated has a record of illegally carrying weapons, said Major Jácome.

Hours later, after 08:30, the Police captured two other subjects who allegedly tried to rob citizens who were awaiting the arrival of buses at a stop on Tungurahua and Cuenca streets, in the south of Guayaquil.

Citizens who were in the area alerted police officers. After a persecution, one of them was arrested in the same area and the other in Carchi and Gómez Rendón.

During the intervention, one of the subjects tried to attack the police officers, but the firearm did not activate, said Andrés García, head of the Garay Circuit. (I)
