A couple arriving from Esmeraldas was gunned down in the Los Esteros citadel, south of Guayaquil, early this Thursday, September 29. The attack occurred in front of the Amarilis Fuentes school, on Juan Montalván Cornejo and Luis Noboa streets.
Walter Tamayo, 43, and his partner, Elizabeth, 33, were in the vehicle. They were hit by gunmen on two motorcycles who fired at least fourteen shots.
One of the shots hit a man who was riding a bicycle in the area and died at the scene. That collateral victim is an older adult who was identified as Kennedy Fernando Pérez. He lived in the area and his family tried to give him first aid, but he died instantly.
While the body was being lifted, it was confirmed at the scene that Walter Tamayo had also lost his life in a health home, while his partner was still in critical condition.
Tamayo, according to the Police, has eleven criminal records for murder, drug trafficking, rape and possession of weapons.
Apparently the assassins had him as their main objective.
It was learned that the couple arrived in Guayaquil to visit relatives. They would have already received threats.
Within the investigations, aliases are pointed out lollipop as the alleged perpetrator of the crime. The antisocial would be one of the leaders of the gangs that operate in this sector in the south of the city.
At 16th and Francisco Segura, in the suburbs of the city, another gunshot wound was reported at dawn.
The victim would be a taxi driver who was shot in the head for opposing the theft of his car.
A couple who were in the car as passengers are the suspects in the violent act.
The taxi driver was taken to a hospital in the south of Guayaquil, where he would be in critical condition.
So far in 2022, at least 1,075 murders have been reported in Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón). (YO)
