Ukraine will receive a new aid package from NATO. The decision will be approved at the bloc’s summit in Vilnius on July 11-12, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, TASS reports.
“At the meeting of the highest representatives of the NATO countries in Vilnius, we will agree on a package of assistance to Ukraine, which will further strengthen our ties and bring Ukraine closer to the alliance,” the Secretary General said, without specifying what the new package included.
Stoltenberg also noted that the new package was approved to facilitate and bring Ukraine’s accession to NATO closer.
The day before, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna said that the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance at the next NATO summit in Vilnius should make a political decision on Ukraine’s entry into the bloc. She stressed that the alliance’s summit “cannot be successful or meaningful without political clarity regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO.” In addition, Stefanyshina called it inappropriate to discuss the time frame for Ukraine’s accession to NATO – before the end of hostilities in the republic or later.
Previously, NATO excluded the entry of Kyiv into the bloc during the conflict.
