Ethics Committee initiates investigation process to Guadalupe Llori for alleged collection of tithes

The Ethics Committee of the National Assembly began an investigation against legislator Guadalupe Llori (Pachakutik), accused by Assemblywoman Johanna Ortiz (UNES), of allegedly collecting tithes.

According to the resolution taken by the members of the table, this September 30, the complainant will be notified to present the evidence of the charge and the investigated assembly member so that she can exercise her right to defense and present her evidence of exoneration, within the next ten days.

Ortiz’s complaint indicates that the legislator Guadalupe Llori, when she held the position of president of the National Assembly, would have incurred one of the prohibitions contemplated in numeral 4 of article 163 of the organic law of the Legislative Function where it is prohibited to the assembly members “receive allowances or other income from public funds that are not those corresponding to their function as assembly members; which will include the receipt of alleged rights, commissions, quotas, contributions, contributions, rents, interests, remunerations or bonuses not due by the work team in charge.

According to the complaint, Llori, as the appointing authority when she was president of Parliament, would have received contributions and undue contributions from former officials and a current official for her benefit, who paid more than $700 a month to rent a luxury car for your mobility.

The attached evidence is related to invoices to rent a vehicle and that were supposedly paid with the salaries of his collaborators.

The president of the Ethics Committee, Segundo Chimbo (Pachakutik), indicated that in a maximum of 40 days there would be a report on the case and it will be made known to the plenary for its definition.

For the taking of the evidence, both the complainant and the accused party will be received in a hearing by the Committee, according to the date and time established for this purpose, so that they may present their arguments as well as their indictment and defense evidence, respectively. (YO)
