The restrictions imposed earlier in connection with the situation with PMC Wagner on Russian highways have been lifted. This was reported in the press service of Rosavtodor, reports TASS.
Restrictions were introduced on the M-4 Don highway in the Voronezh, Lipetsk and Rostov regions, sections of the M-2 Crimea and M-5 Ural roads in the Moscow region. The entrances to Lipetsk from the northern cities of Chaplygin and Lebedyan were also blocked.
Currently, there is still a traffic restriction on the M-4 Don in the Tula and Moscow regions, Avtodor clarified.
These measures were taken in connection with the situation with the Wagner PMC. The day before, the FSB Public Relations Center reported that all the information disseminated on social networks on behalf of the founder of PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin about “missile and bomb attacks inflicted by the Ministry of Defense on the rear units of the Wagner PMC is untrue and is an informational provocation.” The same was said in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. As a result, the FSB Investigation Department opened a criminal case against Prigozhin under the article on organizing an armed rebellion.
As RIA Novosti wrote, on June 24, Wagner fighters arrived at the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. The regions began to introduce restrictions on the roads and cancel mass events. In Moscow, the Moscow and Voronezh regions, the authorities introduced the CTO regime.
On the evening of June 24, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the situation with the Wagner PMC was resolved without further losses, with the participation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, an agreement was reached on the return of the group to their camps. Prigozhin himself will leave for Belarus, and the criminal case against him will be dropped.
The situation was resolved thanks to the mediation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who held talks with Prigozhin. As specified in the Kremlin, the case against the businessman will be stopped, and he himself will be able to leave for Belarus under the guarantee of Vladimir Putin, they said there.
