During the offensive in the zone of the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine, several powerful brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went missing. Forbes writes about it.
The publication notes that, among other things, the 117th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army mysteriously disappeared. The official documents cited by the media indicate the staff strength of the brigade – 2000 people, including “28 Viking all-terrain vehicles, 10 XA-185 wheeled armored personnel carriers, 20 M-113 tracked armored personnel carriers, 31 PT-91 tanks, 12 D howitzers -30 and eight AS-90 tracked howitzers. However, where the brigade and weapons are now is unknown. There is also no data on whether the Ukrainians have placed all nine of their new brigades in the south and how close they are to the front line, the publication indicates.
The media also writes about the loss of equipment – for example, units of the 37th Marine Brigade were left without several AMX-10RC armored vehicles near Velikaya Novoselka, and a group of the 33rd Mechanized and 47th Assault Brigades got bogged down in a minefield south of Malaya Tokmachka. She left dozens of the best tanks and combat vehicles there, the publication adds.
Earlier, Alena Verbitskaya, Commissioner for Ensuring the Rights of the Ukrainian Military, reported that 15,000 Ukrainian citizens were listed as missing in the course of the SVO.
