The Federal Security Service of Russia opened a criminal case because of the call for an armed rebellion. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.

“As stated in the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, the allegations spread on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin have no basis, a case has been opened on the fact of calling for an armed rebellion,” RIA Novosti writes.

The NAC also demanded “immediately stop illegal actions.”

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense accused Prigozhin of “information provocation”. As the TASS agency wrote with reference to the Russian military department, the information disseminated on social networks about the alleged attack by the Russian armed forces on the “rear camps of the PMC Wagner” is false. The Ministry of Defense stressed that the relevant reports “do not correspond to reality” and are “information provocation”.

Shortly before the announcement of the initiation of a criminal case, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin was aware of this situation. According to Peskov, all necessary measures are being taken.
