A resident of the Kaliningrad region, Igor Baryshnikov, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison under an article about spreading fakes about the army, the regional prosecutor’s office reports. He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.
He is also banned from administering sites for four years.
Baryshnikov was found guilty under paragraph “d” part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code. The court found that in 2022 he “posted publications on his page on a social network with an audience of at least 4 thousand subscribers, in which he disseminated deliberately false information under the guise of reliable messages” about the actions of Russian troops in Ukraine. The department asked for eight years in prison for the defendant. He did not admit guilt.

Prior to the fake case, Baryshnikov was repeatedly detained at protests and fined, the New Kaliningrad newspaper notes.
