The National Undersecretariat for Quality Assurance of Health Services of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) made the request to manage, as a donation or definitive transfer, equipment from the Portoviejo Specialty Hospital (HEP) to the hospital de Cayambe, in the province of Pichincha.
Xavier Santos, an assemblyman from Manabí, confirmed that there is a document that arrived on Friday night and that, according to this legislator, it was received by Bosco Barberán, zone coordinator 4 of the MSP.
The assemblyman confirmed that there is the intention and there is the document that indicates that these teams should presumably be transferred by this Monday. Currently these are presumably not being used in the HEP.
“I have made the approach with the zonal health coordinator (Barberán), I have consulted him and he told me that yesterday (Friday), at 20:00 he received that request and that obviously he is trying to make the pertinent steps with the ministry to prevent this from happening, ”Santos said.
The assemblyman said that he had already approached the Vice Minister of Health by telephone to request explanations in this regard and that it be detailed or certified if it is simply a loan or definitive process, because that would harm the operation of the hospital.

In a document that circulated on social networks and that would have been electronically signed by Byron Pacheco, manager of the HEP, the reception of a previous document signed by Eduardo Carrión Estupiñán, national undersecretary of Quality Assurance of Health Services of the MSP stands out. , where he requests that they be transferred with the support of Zonal Coordination 4 of this portfolio of four Mindray brand monitors, model BeneView T8 and OBS brand electrosurgical unit, model OBS-350.
In a statement through the social network Twitter, the Zonal Coordination 4 of the MSP indicated that this ministry “has not ordered the dismantling of any of our units, nor are meetings held on this issue. We deny the information that circulates in networks… ”.
Santos said that for now the transfer of equipment has not been carried out, and that he would take steps to avoid that, if the order is reality, the transfer of the equipment is permanent.
Patricia Briones, president of the Manabí Civic Front, indicated that they are pending and requesting that nothing be taken from the HEP, even more so after the fire on July 5 that affected this health home and forced to reduce the areas of care of that medical establishment.
In a statement issued through The newspaper of Manabí, Barberán indicated that “in the health work there is this type of strategy that allows to provide resources. We have not only lent equipment to Cayambe, but also at the provincial level, such as respirators, monitors to attend to our patients where the need exists ”, explained the official. (I)
