In the Donetsk People’s Republic, the turnout in the referendum on joining the Russian Federation on the first day of voting was 23.64%. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
Vladimir Vysotsky, chairman of the Central Election Commission of the DPR, said that the turnout in the republic at the end of the first day was 23.64%. He added that no violations were recorded.
In the Lugansk People’s Republic, the turnout on the first day of the referendum was 21.97%, said Elena Kravchenko, chairman of the republic’s CEC. In total, 298,900 people voted in the LPR, she said.
The head of the Central Election Commission of the Zaporozhye region, Galina Katyushchenko, said that the preliminary turnout in the region was 20.52%, taking into account voting abroad. A total of 8,370 people took part in the referendum abroad.
Voting on the first day of the referendum in the Kherson region took place throughout the region, including front-line areas and in the liberated part of the Mykolaiv region, said Marina Zakharova, chairman of the Kherson region election commission.
“Today, voting took place throughout the Kherson region, without exception, near the line of contact, the front line, voting took place at the expense of visiting commissions,” Zakharova said. According to her, exit election commissions worked today also in Snegirevka and Aleksandrovka in part of the Nikolaev area.
The referendum on joining Russia started on Friday in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Voting will continue for five days, until September 27th.
