The US authorities continue to investigate what happened at the Kakhovskaya HPP, but believe that the responsibility for the destruction of the facility in any case lies with Russia. About this, according to RIA Novosti, said the press secretary of the White House Karine Jean-Pierre.

She added that the US authorities are in contact with Ukraine.

According to Karine Jean-Pierre, the dam was controlled by the Russian side and is ultimately responsible for the destruction.

In turn, the source of the New York Times claims that the United States ruled out an attack on the dam from the outside and are inclined to believe that the explosion was carried out from the inside – “most likely, by Russian agents.”

Recall that on the night of June 6, the valves collapsed, followed by other buildings of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The destruction led to the unregulated discharge of water from the Kakhovka reservoir and the flooding of the coastal regions of the Kherson region downstream of the Dnieper.

According to Andrey Alekseenko, chairman of the government of the Kherson region, 35 people have already died as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

Russia blamed the Ukrainian side for the incident, and a case of a terrorist attack was opened.
