A man was killed while he was resting in a hammock, while another came to look for him when he was at a wake to shoot him several times and end his life.
The first of the events occurred at 6:00 p.m. last Saturday, when three hooded subjects arrived at the home of Luis Solís Marcillo, 36, and murdered him while he was resting in his hammock.
The deceased’s home is located in the San Lorenzo site, in the El Anegado parish, in Jipijapa.
Santiago Viteri, deputy chief of the Jipijapa Police district, said that the people entered Solís’s house to shoot him several times and cause his death. Due to the distance, the police were notified of the event after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
“It has four projectile holes, the act was carried out with a revolver, which is why there are no ballistic elements at the crime scene,” said Viteri.

The second crime occurred around 00:30 this Sunday, in the El Florón citadel, located east of Portoviejo. The incident took place in a house where a wake was being held. According to witnesses, two people arrived on a motorcycle to that place and went to where Sandy Cedeño, a 21-year-old young man, was, who was shot.
After the armed attack, relatives and neighbors of Cedeño took him to the Verdi Cevallos Balda hospital in Portoviejo, where the doctors of that health home confirmed his death.
To date, 176 violent deaths have been registered in Manabí, that is, in 2021 in this province, one person is murdered every 45 hours, on average.
