Russia welcomes the balanced approach of African countries to the conflict in Ukraine. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with an African delegation in the Konstantinovsky Palace.

According to him, the Russian side is ready for a constructive dialogue for those who want peace on the principles of equality and consideration of interests. He also added that one of the priorities for Russian foreign policy today is the development of relations with African countries.

For his part, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the proposals for peace in Ukraine from the African delegation should not contradict other peace initiatives. Another key point of the proposals of the African delegation is that the military conflict should be resolved through negotiations and diplomacy.

According to Ramaphosa, it is time for Moscow and Kyiv to start peace talks, African countries are convinced that they can make a positive contribution to this process.

Recall that in addition to Ramaphosa, the discussion of the peace initiative is attended by the head of Senegal, Maki Sall, the president of the Comoros, Otman Ghazali, and the head of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema. The delegation also included Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and representatives from Uganda and Congo.
