The Ministry of Justice of Russia began checking the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg for the activities of a foreign agent. According to Kommersant, Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko spoke about this, answering a question from State Duma deputy Andrei Alshevsky. He, in particular, claims that “only the lazy” “does not kick” the Yeltsin Center. Among the complaints, he said, is that employees are promoting a “pro-Western line.”
The Yeltsin Center itself told the newspaper that they calmly reacted to the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Justice. They stressed that they annually report on the activities of the Center to the Board of Trustees, which includes Anton Vaino, head of the presidential administration, Evgeny Kuyvashev, governor of the Sverdlovsk region, and Alexei Orlov, head of Yekaterinburg.
Recall that in October 2022, the regional prosecutor’s office conducted an inspection of the Yeltsin Center after the appeal of the deputy Alshevsky. The audit was carried out, in particular, because of the public condemnation by the NWO Center. However, at that time, the prosecutor’s office did not find grounds for responding.
