Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries “once again deceived” Russia by not fulfilling its demands in the framework of the “grain deal”, and Moscow is considering a likely exit from the deal.
“Unfortunately, we were once again deceived – nothing was done in terms of liberalizing the supply of our grain to foreign markets. I mean freight, insurance, payments, connection of our Russian Agricultural Bank to the SWIFT system. There were all sorts of conditions that the Westerners had to fulfill under the leadership of the UN. Nothing has been done,” Putin said at a meeting with war correspondents. He also added: “We are thinking about getting out of this “grain deal” now,” Interfax reports.
The Russian leader recalled that Russia had extended these agreements several times “in the interests of friendly countries”, and said that in the near future he will meet with a group of leaders of African countries who will come to Russia to discuss with them, among other things, issues of grain supplies.
