In Russia as a whole, there is no need to introduce martial law, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with military commanders.
“In general, there is no point in introducing some kind of special regime in the country, martial law, there is no such need today. We need to work more carefully on some issues, ”RBC quotes the statement of the Russian leader.
Also, according to him, there is no need for a new wave of mobilization. “The Ministry of Defense reports that, of course, there is no need for mobilization today,” he said, adding that since January 2023, about 156,000 people have been recruited into the Russian army, including contractors and volunteers. In the last week alone, 9,500 people signed contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry, the head of state added.
In early June, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that the Kremlin had no plans to introduce martial law in the border areas or declare mobilization. Currently, martial law is in force in four regions – the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
