The International Committee of the Red Cross is ready to provide assistance to all those affected after the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region “on both banks of the Dnieper”. The corresponding message was published on the website of the organization.

“We are ready to respond on both sides of the river, in particular from the operational bases in Odessa and Donetsk, and we have confirmed to the authorities our offer of emergency assistance to people affected by the floods, as well as long-term assistance to improve access to clean water,” the message says. .

The organization noted that groups of its employees work in Kherson (under the control of Ukraine). There they are engaged in providing residents of the city and surrounding areas with drinking water, essential products and medical supplies. The ICRC also provides technical support to emergency services looking for landmines and unexploded ordnance that have fallen into the water.

Recall that the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station collapsed on June 6. A number of cities and towns were almost completely flooded. An emergency regime has been introduced in the Kherson region.
