The driver of the vehicle, Héctor CP, was apprehended for investigations
Machala
The National Anti-Drug Investigation Unit of Ports and Airports (Unipa) of the National Police seized a shipment of 141 cocaine bricks that were camouflaged in cardboard boxes for bananas aboard a truck that was circulating on Av. Railroad, on the Machala-El Cambio route.
The driver of the vehicle, Héctor CP, was detained for investigations at dawn last Thursday during the operation called Odyssey II.
According to police inquiries, it is presumed that the drug was being transferred to a collection center where it was intended to contaminate the fruit boxes.
That shipment was apparently destined for the sea port of Puerto Bolívar, however, intelligence investigations thwarted this shipment of drugs to international markets.
The brick-like packages were covered with clear plastic tape and brown packing tape.
The evidence remained under the chain of custody of the Judicial Police.
The prosecutor on duty ordered the arrest of the driver. (I)
