Distrust, disappointment, unyielding opposition, wasting time, quarrels, neglect of obligations towards citizens…, citizens say about the actions of the legislative authority. (OR)

The crisis of our legislative power in recent times is manifested, among other things, due to limited capacities for the effective performance of its functions, which leads to the birth of blocs, some in the unconditional service of the executive power, and others in systematic and unrelenting opposition to the regime, unaware that once elected it becomes representative of civil society.

In order to eliminate these inconveniences, it was thought that the symptoms of ungovernability would disappear with the new composition of the Parliament, but the hatred, whims, and interpellations of the ministers were reflected; that is, to destabilize the Executive function at any cost. It was a utopia to create favorable conditions for reasoned debate on laws, avoiding the adoption of diffuse and contradictory regulations, as was the case. There was no thought of passing laws that protect us from terrorists, one of the main threats to the governance of the country, and from drug trafficking and consumption; Instead, he is protected by certain very powerful interests, who take longer to be arrested than to gain their freedom. The Ecuadorians’ disillusionment with the National Assembly was inevitable: it emptied their distrust. (OR)

The clear message left to us by the National Assembly, dissolved by the decree of death on the cross by the president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, is that when personal interests and obligations to the people who appointed them as representatives are put aside, they go to light the consequences of their actions that made them irreparably condemned.

Among the members of the assembly, there have been people for years who have not revealed their ‘feats’ of awarding public functions in the cities where they live, collecting bribes for the ‘services’ they provided, etc.; And they keep doing it, and no one notices. Where are those authorities – the Supervisory Service, for example – that did not supervise as they should have done with these privileged former MPs? The country needs a strong head of state who will impose decisions, correct laws that will allow criminals to go free and continue their crimes. (OR)
