The heads of some 20 of the world’s largest intelligence agencies held a secret meeting as part of a security summit in Singapore. They discussed the conflict in Ukraine, international crime and other issues, Reuters reports citing its sources.
The meeting, according to media reports, was attended by the heads of intelligence of the United States, India and China. Among the participants were Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes and Director of the Indian Intelligence Research and Analysis Division Samant Goel. The Russian side was not present at the meeting.
It is noted that such meetings are organized by the government of Singapore every year. Meetings are held in secret. Previously, such events have not been reported. The publication, citing sources, writes that such “meetings are an important element of the international shadow agenda”, contribute to “a deep understanding of the intentions of the parties and the result they are striving for.”
On the eve it became known about the secret visit of the head of the CIA, William Burns. According to the Financial Times, he visited China in May and held talks there. Details were not disclosed.
