The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed a demarche to Hungary due to the publication of a video with a map of the country without Crimea. The corresponding message was published on the department’s website.

Kiev stated that the designation of the Crimean peninsula as a territory that is not part of Ukraine “contradicts the repeatedly stated position of official Budapest on supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.” The Foreign Ministry also called on Hungary “to stop provocations and comply with its international obligations within the framework of membership in the UN, EU and NATO.”

A video with a map showing Crimea as Russian territory was posted by the Hungarian government on its YouTube channel. The video is dedicated to the idea of an immediate cessation of hostilities and the start of peace negotiations.

Recall that Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 following a referendum. Ukraine and Western countries did not recognize its results, Kyiv considers the territory occupied. Hungary did not officially recognize the entry of Crimea into Russia.
