At the Quito airport they find parts of rifles camouflaged between shoes and clothes from New York

This is the second seizure of this type this week at that air terminal in the capital.

On a flight from New York there was a new discovery of weapons hidden in parcels, on the night of this Thursday 25.

The National Customs Service of Ecuador and the National Police intervened before the novelty at the Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito.

Carola RĂos, principal of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae), indicated that the rifle parts arrived via courier camouflaged between shoes and clothes.

“The parts found would be for an M4 rifle,” said the official, sharing an image of the long-range weapon.

The merchandise was only declared as clothing, footwear and tools, he added. Their final destination was Cuenca.

This is the second seizure of this type this week at that air terminal in the capital.

Last Monday afternoon, customs agents and the Police alerted the arrival of 2,000 munitions hidden between quilts sent as a package.

That cargo that arrived from Miami was presumed to have the city of Guayaquil as its final destination. (I)
