Ukraine is ready and will conduct a counteroffensive. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
He added that this would take some time and could cost the country dearly. “To be honest, it can happen in different ways, completely different. But we are going to do it, and we are ready,” Zelensky stressed.
According to him, “the Armed Forces of Ukraine need a large amount of air defense.” Zelensky noted that Kyiv would like additional weapons. “We would like to have certain things, but we cannot wait for months,” he said, and also acknowledged Russian air superiority.
In addition, Zelensky expressed concern about a possible change in the American administration. “In a situation where there is support, you are afraid of change,” he explained, stressing that the current US President Joe Biden has an “emotional attachment” to Ukraine. Under a different administration, the situation may change, Zelensky said.
In the same interview, he named one of the main tasks of Kyiv – the movement towards NATO membership. “If we are not given a signal in Vilnius, I believe that there is no point for Ukraine to be at this summit,” Zelensky stressed.
Recall that Ukraine has announced the preparation of a counteroffensive for the past few months.
